270, I think...

The only ones I have ever seen are not exclusive like 66 is. That is to say, they don't make the whole highway HOV-3, just one lane.

I looked into this myself out of sheer morbid curiosity. Really stupid, if you ask me but I don't write the laws I just follow em...

I also have no sympathy for HOV violators.

I've been riding HOV on 66W on my motorcycle and had to lock up the front brake when some jackass (with no passengers) decided he didn't want to wait in traffic anymore and cut into the HOV lane right in front of me and I was going 50mph+!

Well I think you will find stupid drivers in any lane on any road in Northern VA....and possibly other areas I believe all of us have broken some law at some point. Pay to play.

i broke the hov law before. the officer told me your first offense is just a moving violation. like someone mentioned earlier, just pay the fine and man up to it. it won't count against your insurance. at least that's what the state trooper told me. if it's your second offense, that's when your insurance is notified and your fine is of a larger amount.

needless to say...as nasty as nova traffic is, i don't take hov exits anymore.

insurance doesnt get notified, they just check your driving record and base it on points... they do it annually, or semi annually... it just depends on the co.

PS: The insurance system in America is GAY (for a lack of better words)
