Default Honda Lawsuit?

This is most likely a repost since this story broke over a month ago, but this is the first I heard of it thismorning. I was curious if this affects us as well and also if you guys know about it.....

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Honda Motor Co. (HMC) is notifying 6 million owners of Hondas and Acuras that they are entitled to warranty extensions and, in some cases, payments because their odometers rolled up miles too quickly, causing some warranties to expire too soon and hit some lease customers with excess-mileage penalties, The Detroit Free Press reported in its Tuesday editions.
Vehicles covered in the deal: 2002 to 2006 Hondas and Acuras bought from April 13, 2002, to Nov. 7, 2006. Some 2007 Honda Fits also are included.
More information http://www.odosettlementinfo.com/

Seeing as my car is an 03' it would be covered, correct? Just looking for a little confirmation.

Maybe go to your dealer? If you still have a warranty you have nothing to worry about till the end anyways.

IF you are affected you will get paperwork. I recieved mine about 3 weeks ago.

The settlement is as follows, they will extend your warranty to 37,500 miles. Refund any work that you paid for and should have been under warranty from 36,000 to 37,500.

So our cars show more miles than they actually have? Further, the speedometer shows a faster speed than we are actually traveling? Hmmm

Yea, I was thinking that too, that 4% adds up over time, especially when it comes time to sell the car, 96,000 vs 100,000 miles..... hmmmm also those speeding..... wait, i never got one yet. lol

More lawsuits coming for the de-valuation in the car. lol

Its actually around 1.5% difference, they agreed to the 37,500 because of the lawyers.

Speed would be sensed via the driveshaft sensor, not sure thats how it calculates the odometer.

I have checked my speedo via my GP several times and its right on.

The agreement to the class action suit says Honda and the odometer manufacturer admit no fault, but agreed to the extension of the warranty to settle. So any lawsuit for decreased value would require a whole lot of additional litigation

They agreed to no fault because their odometers were within acceptable SAE spec. They did nothing wrong.

It's only 1.5%, and I think spec is like +- 5% or something crazy.

96k vs. 100k? yeah, total dealbreaker.
