Default It happens to the best of us...F**k!

So I was driving to school today. Car was perfect. After like 10 mins of Driving I stopped at a light. The car idled violantly and then the CEL came on.

After 5 mins of driving it went away, but then the car was still dleing. Then the CEl started flashing. I intermediately turned the car off, and started it 5 mins later. The CEL light was gone. But then it started Idling again and backfiring.

Now the CEL light comes and goes, and flashes and then stops, but the car is still backfiring and and idling roughly.

What should I do? I am thinking dealership, first thing in the morning.

I scanned for codes and I got:

P0301 misfire detected on cylinder 1
P0302 misfire detected on cylinder 2
P0303 misfire detected on cylinder 3
P0300 random misfires detected

When was the last time you changed your spark plugs? Did you do the map whack trick? Have you been running 91+ octane fuel?

Start with your spark plugs first or might as well replace them and see if that solves the problem. If poblem persist, I've been reading about the coil packs to go next, then the MAP and then I think the Air Idler Valve.

Hope you get her sorted out soon. Auto-X season is just around the corner.

I would bet my bottom dollar this is spark plugs or coil packs. I would try spark plugs first, second i would hook up with some one and switch coil packs and see if that is the problem before you go out and buy a new set to try out.

I'm not sure about spark plugs / coil packs. It would be too coincidental to start randomly misfiring on all cylinders at the same time. Do the MAP whack trick, if that doesn't work clean it out, clean your throttle body, and then we can worry about the next step.

how recently did you get fuel. the fact that 3 cylinders intermittanly all misfired at the same time is strange and not common for ignition problems, more than likely either a fuel or air issue.

^^^If it's a fuel issue it should not actualy back fire and idle violently. These codes happens to me last week but all four cylinders were showing and a random misfire code but the car was running normaly. The Valvoline water remover did the trick and cleared the CEL.

Check plugs, coil, and I would run some 44K through it; winter mix fuel FTL.

Lets see. I use Exxon Fuel:Supreme. I will put more gasoline in it today.

BTW, what is the MAP whack trick? Lol.

I am going to be safe and get spark plugs because I need to change them now anyways.

The MAP whack trick is when you hit the MAP with the back end of a screw driver to clear out any dirt in there; I would rather take it off and clean it with compressed air or just replace it all together.
