Default Hampton or Newport News Area?

Hello Everyone,

I am about to relocate for a new job in Hampton, Virginia in the next 30 days. I was wondering which city do you all think is a better overall between Hampton or Newport News? I have never been to the area yet but I have heard nice things about Hampton so far.

Thanks,
Richard

Richard, I live in Hampton and grew up in Hampton so I now the area very well. Both Newport News and Hampton are nice but it also depends on which area you live in. I would also recommend looking into York County as well especially if you're working in Hampton.

I also forgot to say welcome to the area. You might want to hit up ACLR8, he lives about 15 minutes away from me, but he lives in Newport News.

Thanks everyone, after researching apartments online and your recommendations I am thinking Hampton is the place to be.

I found two apartments in the area with a garage. One in Newport News (Oyster Point area) and the other in Hampton (near Langley AFB). I plan on leasing one for two years until I finish paying off my S2000 and then build a new house in the area after I decide exactly where.

The vast majority of Hampton sucks, take it from someone who has lived here a long time.

Let me know where you are thinking about, or if you need a guide.
