Thanks Wingnut for the 'heads up' on this guy. I'm glad my court date 3 weeks ago was in Bedford county and not Goochland, at least my perfect driving record all these years impressed that judge enough to reduce my ticket. And since I was only 1 away from a reckless I was very lucky. He could have nailed me - but let's just say the monetary fine was enough. You still pay on the 74 even though they reduce it to a 64. It's all about revenue.
While I don't agree with his stiff punishment for speeding I do think that when you are driving at a high rate of speed, especially over 90 MHP it IS murder. If you were to hit someone with a vehicle at that speed it would kill them and probably yourself as well. So, why do it in my opinion.... are you in that big of a hurry to get where you are going that you need to put your life and the lives of others in jeopardy?? When I see these mammoth SUV's traveling well over the speed limit - you can bet your a$$ I'm getting out of their way. Those people are insane.

Of course it is all about revenue. If it was about safety (as the claim), cops wouldn't be in hiding running their radar....
If it was about safety, they would park right on the side of the road, where all could see them, and then everyone would slow down, thus being safe....
If it were about safety, all cars would have rev limiters at 75 mph....

You know fines are a main source of revenue when you see a POS town wtih 2 stop lights and a bunch of backroads leading up to a new state of the art multimillion dollar court and police station. (fluvanna)

Im really board at work, so thats why this post im commenting on is so old. But I have traveled that section of 64 a lot in the past two years, between there and charlotsville is really bad. There is a State Trooper HQ in Louisa, so that dosent help, there also known to hide in very obscure places on that stretch.
