Little mercy: Goochland judge gave jail time to fast drivers
I read this article in The Richmond Times-Dispatch last week. Nice that it was also available on the paper's website so I could share it with my Mid-A folks.
I don't want to count off the number of hella-three-digit trips I've made on I-64 in Goochland. Course, I don't ever "try that" without having my eyes dayyyum-wide open. While I know its stupid...I never really appreciated that it could mean the better part of a month spent in county jail! ...and $1,000 fine ...and my license revoked for 6 months!!! Not nice at all

All those places are the same way. When I was 17 i got caught doing 100 on 64 going threw fluvanna, right past goochland. Im prettu sure they use some of the same judges.
Woman Judge - First time in Court - 1000 fine, 30 days suspended to 10 days in a jail holding sell, 6 months no licence, driving school
Male Judge - Second time from appeal - 500 fine, 2 days in detention home, driving school, no license for a year
Went back in 6 months, got a differnet judge to appeal the no license and the judge said he couldnt see any reason for my punishment to be so severe and gave me back my license.
I know it was a high speed, but it was early in the AM with no traffic and it was my first and only ticket.

During my Freshman year I got nailed doing 103 through Goochland in a Tahoe with 3 drunk Fraternity Brothers in the back, about 10 24 packs, and 2 kegs heading back to Ashland. Thank god the State Trooper bought the excuse that I had to use the bathroom and only wrote me for 10 over!
I read an article about counties/towns that make over 50% of their income off of traffic tickets and Goochland made the top 20 list (it was the only Virginia town on the list).

Towns and judges like the ones in this article make me sick. They are obviously power hungry and do not realize that speeding is NOT the worst crime in the world. Sometimes I think that judges and other political/law enforcement personnel think that speeding and capitol murder are the same thing.
