Getting rid of MY NFR S2000
#27
I'm sorry I missed this thread till now Mark. I was trying to squeeze most of today's work in between 6:00 & 11:00 AM so I could go look at some houses (made another offer ).....done that and now I'm back.
Yes, the S2000 is coming up on its last year: 2007. We've been told that straight from the horse's mouth a few times. You know that I'll hook you up on a 2006 or 2007 S2000, but I think the best way for you to go is the Cayman S with Sport Chrono Package and nothing else (under $60,000). It is a truly awesome machine that will give you the torque and power the S doesn't have with the handling (if not better handling). You'd have to give up the convertible, but looking at your want list it doesn't look like that is too much of an issue.
The M3 is nice. You'd have the power, and that car really only needs less than $2,000 in coilovers to be better if you don't go for the Competition Package. It is a different handling than the S. Its weight gives it the ability to hold a turn faster and harder than the S, but it fails in a nimbleness comparison. BMW Service is the best, and the number one BMW Service department in the country is right here in Virginia Beach
You do know that all those cars on your list (except the S, but that will change soon) have terrible leases because demand is high enough to not need to put higher residuals on them.
If you're looking for communities, the Vette Club is cool - you've seen them at AutoX's - the BMW club is great, but is more track oriented and the Porsche club is off the charts killer - the Porsche guys are into everything and are a very close-knit group. I've become friends with the President, and he's very much like you: give me a car and a beer and let the good times come
In reality, all of the cars suggested and on your list are going to be great - you can't really go wrong with any of them.

I don't know you, so I don't know what to recommend, or what your price range is. But I too would be going with the Porsche Cayman if it is in your price range.
-Z06: awesome machine... I'd test drive it and the Porsche before making my decision. But I like the way the Cayman looks better, both inside and out.
-Viper: A little too raw
-Elise: Another awesome car... but a little too raw as well
-M3: Perfect if it is going to be your only car. It sounds like you have other cars to daily drive though.
-S2K: We all love this car! Get a brand new one, slap a supercharger on it, save a bunch of money and still have a lot of fun.

If it is the last year for the S, I may just go for it, load it up, slam the car and a beer and hit the highway.
