Cryo'ing the gear reduces the friction of the gear besides making it stronger. Also by reducing the friction the gear will be a bit quieter than a non cryo'd one. not that you can hear the 4.56's anyway. If it was going in my car it would get cryo'd for sure.
My current diff is one that Jeff built and they are cryo treated. (I bought it second-hand.) I can vouch that they have been trouble free and are silent.

i want to get these but how much is it a pain in the butt for lets say you still have warranty on your car and would still like the dealership not to notice the gearing and how much faster would the 4.56's our cars? ive heard of the 4.77's being able to shave .3secs of the 1/4 mile and keep up with a S/C but what about the 4.56?

Most techs would never know unless they've driven many S's. Even then, they might think, "Wow! This a strong S2000." This isn't because the gears don't make a difference, but because of the techs just don't see/drive that many of them.

I'm a little confused about the pricing. If I go to hardtopguy.com, the price for 4.77's with speedo calibrator is $955. Am I missing something? Is the labor for speedo calibration $250?
