I think I pissed off my fiance when I said that "I hope gas prices do go over $4.00/gallon. Maybe that way people will stop driving as much and there will be less traffic. Who knows, maybe I might be able to even enjoy some of the roads around here?"

$4/gallon seems imminent. And the guy at the gas station today bitching about his $80 fillup can bite me. Do us all a favor and drive your Hummer off a cliff.

I work from home, drive about 6 miles/day on a normal day so the prices don't affect me much, but hopefully it will make people more aware and they'll combine trips, think ahead, get rid of their 8mpg smog blowers used for soccer practice and daily trips to Target. There's a reason cars in Europe are tiny and such fuel-sippers. When are they bringing the SMART over here, again?

btw - some of these cars are getting 70mpg... sure, they're low-power city cars, but you have to trade off somewhere

the oil rigs (not sure about the refineries) were not damaged too much, but supply dropped. they are/were not opperating so we lost supply and alot of the shipping routes are not navigable so the supply/gas will not be readily movable. so gas prices are up alot.
also labor day weekend is coming and there is always an increase in gas price.

i saw $3.20+ somewhere here in NoVA. CRAZY!!!!

Was delighted to find a $3.15 for premium in Laurel tonight, 8 miles from home. Then, I couldn't find my wallet. I had left it at work in Greenbelt.

Driving out of Greenbelt, all I could find was $3.49... so I actually drove 15 miles back up to Laurel to fill up - I figured it was worth the $3 I'd be saving.

Motorcycles are indeed looking like a good alternative. Something I have known for a while (I drive 57 miles one way to work).

Yesterday afternoon my oldest son called and asked to use one of my bikes, he is really feeling the pinch!

Yesterday morning my wife was low on gas but had enough to get to work, but by the time she got home the price of gas had gone up 20 to 30 cents.

Later when we were driving my truck to the Honda dealer to pick up LILGUY, she commented that maybe she could drive my truck today to work.

Well I made the big mistake of joking, "What you empty your Expedition and now you want to run the gas out of my truck?"

Let me tell you that comment went over like a fart in church

I am picking up the peaces of my ass still this morning.

if we need to make a difference everybody ride a cycle for atleast a month, that is right , one month, everybody and then we shall see a difference.

one day boycotts or refrain driving on sunday ain't gonna work.

I wonder how high this post would rank in the "longest post of all time" in the s2ki forums thanks for reading, if anyone read it all.
When you have to break it into two posts or three then you'll be getting close.

I thought that I was seeing things today as I drove passed a "Royal" gas station on Quaker Lane just north of King Street in Alexandria and their 92 Octane gas was going for $3.89 per gallon!
Come on out to Montgomery county if you think that is bad. Topping $4 in some places.
