The new GT-R is a standalone model like the NSX. Shares nothing in common with the Skyline.
Right, I understand that.

Poor choice of words on my part.

I probably should have worded it "The Skyline GT-R is to the Skyline lineup as the Civic Type-R is to the Civic lineup". I just felt it would be too wordy and thought my message would be understood even if I hacked it short.

In the previous models that was true. NOw there is no "Skyline GT-R" it's just the Nissan GT-R

so let me rephrase it for you

The GT-R is to the Skyline lineup as the NSX Type-R is to the Accord lineup

haha, figures that I get all worked up and the car is perfectly legit. oh well, guess I shoulda done some research. Oversteer, I can't read your article cuz I'm at work, but I googled it and I see what you guys are talking about. And magikow, I know the GTR is not the Skyline, but I didn't know the Skyline was being produced in Japan. I thought the GTR replaced it. Am I at least right on the cheesy portholes?
Depends if they were portholes or vents.

My link is just a pic. Should be 100% safe for work. Unless you're blocked.

I think my choice of words is correct. Skyline GT-R is separate from the new GT-R...so saying the "Skyline GT-R to the Skyline..." is correct. "GT-R to Skyline..." would be incorrect.

We're on the same page...just different ways of explaining it.
How about this and we'll both be happy.

New GT-R /= Skyline Trim
Old GT-R's = Skyline Trim
