Default G35 /= GTR

This is a little random but I can't get it out of my head..

Last night in Fairfax I spotted a silver G35 with: Nissan badges, a badge that read "350GT", the word S-K-Y-L-I-N-E across the rear, and stupid fake portholes on the fenders. I just can't stop thinking about how DUMB that is. I think I had seen this guy a while ago, BEFORE the GTR came out. At least then it was partially understandable, since everyone thought the new Skyline would be a G35 replica. But now that the GTR actually exists, there's no excuse for this idiocy. And why the hell would he have a "350GT" badge on his car?? What does that have to do with a supposed Skyline? Ugh, it hurts to see a potentially nice car vandalized by retards.

G35 = 350GT Skyline in Japan.

New GT-R does not = skyline.

GT-R is a GT-R

I thought Nissan sold the US Infiniti G35 in Japan as the "Nissan Skyline 350GT". You might want to google it.

The Skyline is actually a pretty normal car. But it's the GT-R version that gets all the press.

The Infiniti G35 is actually the Skyline GT350 (or 350 GT-8 for the 4 door) in the overseas market.

Whenever I go overseas I often see beat-up daily driver Skylines. Some 4-door, some 2-door, some wagons even. But again, in the USA when we think of "Skyline" we think of their performance trim "GT-R".

That Infiniti had the correct badging, just not for the USA.

GT-R is to the Nissan Skyline as "Type R" is to the Civic. Non-GT-R Skylines are virtually unheard of in the USA because it's just a regular car (G35 for example)...why that guy wants to brag about having a lower trim...I dunno.

The new GT-R is a standalone model like the NSX. Shares nothing in common with the Skyline.

haha, figures that I get all worked up and the car is perfectly legit. oh well, guess I shoulda done some research. Oversteer, I can't read your article cuz I'm at work, but I googled it and I see what you guys are talking about. And magikow, I know the GTR is not the Skyline, but I didn't know the Skyline was being produced in Japan. I thought the GTR replaced it. Am I at least right on the cheesy portholes?
