EVENT: 2nd Annual WhrDLMI BBQ
#371
Well, I had a great time on the drive. But, My day did not end to well.
S2Kryand and Myself left about halfway threw the drive to go to another spot for a cruise. He had talked about it for forever.
Anyways, at crabtree falls, my front tires while in a turn decided they didn't want to turn anymore. So, I slide into a oncoming car. The car was coming up the mtn, as I was going down. The turn had me going right, and it was a sharp one and my tires did this number / --- / while I was sliding straight (plowing like a mother!!!) It did not help that I have never been there, so as a result I was probably just going to fast.
Everyone was ok in the other vehicle(1997 CRV). I just had to run into another Honda
I will post pictures later when I get home home. Its not pretty and my beautiful RPF1(front driver side) has a nice huge crack in it. Also the suspension is just hanging on........on both cars

One of the advantages of driving with the group is that the driver leaders have already scoped out the route at least once and they set the pace for everyone.
George, Pete, Daryl, myself, and one other person (sorry I didn't get your name) were having a blast on the drive keeping a perfect pace -- not anywhere close to the limit, but fast enough to have fun. I can only assume that the added safety is due to George setting the pace since he's driven the route before. Its not a guarantee of safety, but it definitely helps.
Hope everything works out with the car. Glad to hear everyone was OK though!

Thanks everyone who helped to organize this Event! The Driving Route was excellent with enough spirited turns to please everyone. It was a blast and you could not have chosen a better location (Barrel Oak Winery). It's always nice to see everyone and it was great to enjoy the beautiful day with a bunch of fellow S2K Members
These are the type of Events that make the Mid Atlantic S2k Club

Thanks again to Jeff, Bobbie and company for a great day. Jeff, if you were responsible for ordering the weather double thanks, but I guess that was Bobbie's doings
George (Gfacter), thanks for planning out another great route. Dave (W1ngman) thank you for being our sub group leader after the dump truck parade on RT 50 east of Middleburg. Your pace was just about right. Fast enough to be fun and conservative enough to be safe.
Thanks to everyone that organized and attended this drive. It was great to see everyone again, and meet a few new faces.
Jeff & Bobbie: Sign us up again for next year.
