Default DE at Road Atlanta Jan 12-13

DON'T put the car away for the WINTER yet... We have another DE For you... January 12-13, and it's a joint effort by Atlanta Boxster Club, TracQuest and Rennlist -

Well after almost 4 months we just concluded discussions with the Panoz Racing School (long story as to why that had to happen) and although the Road Atlanta date was taken away from us some time ago, it's now back on for good. I still need to talk with the track to work out all of the logistical details, including lodging, so I can complete the event write-up and entry form for the event, but I wanted to let everyone know now that it's happening.

The weekend is January 12-13,and it's a joint effort by TracQuest, Rennlist and the Atlanta Boxster Club. Especially with the shorten period of time remaining until the event, we'll need all the help we can get spreading the word to get participants and instructors. This event will be like NO OTHER at RA -- The cost will include, ALL MEALS, a Dinner Saturday night (cost of about $60 a person included), over 6 hours of track time for the weekend. 3 times that of a PCA DE. The Cost will be $500 for the weekend. Instructors running a car at the event pay half price, unless they can get at least one participant to come, in which case they run for free as they do at all West Coast TracQuest events.

I also encourage my West Coast instructors to consider going without a car. As you know, students are very generous about allowing instructors to drive their cars, and Road Atlanta is one of the best tracks in the country. There would be no charge for instructors not running a car at the event.

More details to follow, but We wanted to get the word out asap.

As a new S2K owner, I want to learn more "what's what" regarding this thread.

First and foremost...can I presume this thread topic is related to a driving "school"...or is it actually an auto-x for the experienced driver...

Second, being a Richmond, VA-based owner...will opportunity for any performance driving schools be any closer than Atlanta???

Thanks for the heads-up either way... I want to become more experienced with this machine and I can think of no other way than through schooling. I'm off to dig around in the search-wagon for more information on schooling this machine and its driver...

Yes a DE is a High speed driving school where you have both class time and you have an instructor in the car with you teaching you while you drive.

as for closer to you yes VIR is a GREAT track however (much colder than Atlanta in January) they will not allow a Boxster to run with out a added roll bar (must past the broomstick test, that is while seated in your car you must have 2 inches under your Helmet when a broom stick is placed on the windshield and roll bar -- I know this is hard in the Boxster and almost impossible in the S2000 --

I will be posting more on this tonight and tomorrow -- but I wanted to get back to you --
