Yeah, misshifted. I'm pretty pissed at myself right now.
Ouch. Redlining 3rd back to 2nd instead of 4th, eh? Sucks that such a quick thing can result in a completely blown engine and thousands upon thousands in repair costs. Turn a negative into a positive... if you're going to spend the money anyway, get something built!
I was thinking about that one, but a built motor costs a considerable amount more for not a ton more performance. Balancing and milling and getting the tolerances closer to spec are great for endurance racing, but not a ton more power, and the costs. Yikes! Forged pistons and fiber reinforced cylinder walls are stock on these too.

=P No. Silly American F22. Euro and JDM Specs never changed from the F20 if I remember right.

I like you.

F20C 9k redline. I just pretend there was never an AP2.

Oh, looks like Japan did change in 2006. Dropped the horsepower some. Wish I could have found a JDM F20C without the transmission attached. Oh well.

I think the UK had the F20 till the end('09).

At least with an F22 over rev, most of the time you just have to worry about a bent valve.

Really not trying to be an ass here, so please don't take this the wrong way, but the F22 might have survived your money shift. This is one of the things Honda accounted for in the changes to the engine.

Eh, even if the F22 might have survived, I still have no longing for that engine. I like the 9K redline, the noise, the feel, and everything about the F20C. I'd love to spend on a new ECU and tune with lower VTEC engagement, and a few small things, but that engine in that car has all my heart and love. All of my bank account now too, it feels like.

The only difference I know of that's related to this are the AP2 valve retainers. It wouldn't be too hard to add that safeguard into an AP1 engine.

The lower redline on the F22 helps with over revs also.
