hah its weird. i still have to get more opinions on it, but earlier today it was slipping on the highway as i accel, the rpm would go up but i would barely gain speed. and my c lutch would take a while to grab.

however rpms didn't drop consistantly as i was accelerating. so i guess the clutch isn't TOO fried yet.

BUT. i just took it out for some test runs and everythings running smoothly, clutch is engaging without probs. only prob is i feel like i lost 40hp. throttle response is wack now.

I don't see how the popping sound in the pedal assembly is due to a worn/bad clutch...

Joe,
That almost sounds like you have a Map Sensor (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=S...0#entry12038827) issue. I was having a very similar issue (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...&f=22&t=446447) but it happened to coincide with a faulty slave clutch cylinder. I had my neighbor (Ferrari/Lamborghini tech) take it out and he did the ol' clutch test and it did not fail.

Could be that your two issues are not related. If the car is under warranty I would take it back to the dealer and have them figure it out. If that isn't your preferred route then I would give the "Map Wack" a try (20k/mi later and I had to do it again...probably time for me to reset the ECU or buy a new Map sensor).
