I believe you can also use the baby seat locks to accomplish the same thing. I read that a couple of guys have used them... think it was in the Racing & Competition forum.
Locking oneself into the seat is a good thing.

Osbourn Park High School, Manassas, VA is the location of our next autocross event, on SUNDAY September 18th.
Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 and will promptly close at 8:45 to try to accomodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45. So if you arrive at 8:00 you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute. If you don't get teched and registered by 8:45, you will lose your morning runs.
The event fee is $25 for members and $35 for non-members at this event. So if you plan to attend, e-mail me your name(s), make, model, year and color of your vehicle.
There is a freeze on membership unless already arranged prior to September 4th.
Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time. Open reservations for non-members for this event begins September 10th. To reserve a spot, e-mail Ed Chan your

How do I e-mail Ed Chan directly? (What's his e-mail address?)
Any other advice for a n00b?

I appreciate all the advice. Hopefully I will see some of you there. I will be the guy looking real confused and knocking over cones.

OK, I want in on this one. It will be my first autox. Is there somewhere that can see the rules, regulations and such? I guess what I need to know the most is what kind of helmet to get, and where can I get it from (before Sunday).

I am one of the head organizers/tech inspectors/instructors for the club. I can ride along and give you some pointers that you might find helpful. We have loaner helmets (~6 of them). If you are running stock street tires (S02s or 050s) you may want to consider 33 psi rear cold and 34-35 psi front cold. Remove all excess junk and leave at home, you can take out your spare/tools at the event. Make sure you have the correct amount of oil and coolant in your car. Wear some soft shoes (running, wrestling etc). Leave ego at home (I know everyone thinks they are pretty good drivers) but at the first time out pretty much everyone is slow (don't worry nobody laughs). Have fun.
