scot in honda challenge uses 4.77s... also i belive pretty much every other race s2000 uses them as well
I don't think that's true at all. Many guys that once used 4.77's have learned more and backed down to 4.44's and 4.3's and some back to 4.1s. It's really dependent on the track you run and tire sizes you're using. J's Racing maybe using 5.1's on Tsukuba but on Motegi they're probably running 4.3's.

We are talking about Summit Point here in the east coast where most of my track events are.

Tsukuba is a fun track on GT4. But we are talking about somewhat street legal US cars and tracks here. Now with a lightweight and tricked out JDM car maybe it's viable. But no one here has anything like that.

Since Scott and YellowStreak were in the 1:23-1:24 range I will defer to them. I don't think I would hardly notice a 4.3 change. I would still bog though 1-2 and never carry 6th gear on the straight.

Well I did some reading on gears in the R and C forum. I am getting the 4:56 gears. It's a compromise but best for my my needs. If my car was only for track use I would get the 4:77's

Cale you get the 4:77s ok then we can do a proper evaluation.

I ran BR before sc'ing. I have 4.57's. I have not run SP. Again, I recommend gears for NA.

Dylan, 13.2 w/ gears and an intake? I'm inclined to disagree... at least for us mere mortals.

For the post asking how gears would affect your daily drive: you will run a few more rpm's at highway speeds than before. I'm at 80mph(calibrated w/ yellow box) in 6th at 5k rpm. Before sc, I was still getting around 23mpg.

While there are times when I have to shift once more than others(1/4 mile, etc), there are also times when I don't have to grab a lower gear.

GT4...

George,
I have the 4.77 and I'm a daily driver....no problems at all. However, if you do plan to run different tracks, then the 4.57 might be the best choice. All I can relate it to is my experience on drives and I'll tell you this.... I SHOT of the corners but if there was a long stretch, the advantage was lost b/c I had an extra shift.

If anyone is interested there is a new GB on the 4.44s/4.77s.

Im thinking strongly about the 4.77s. Not interested in tracking it all. The S is the daily and i have an AP2. It would be helpful to get more opinions/experience about the 4.77s on an AP2 tranny for a daily driven S. I'm not too concerned about top speed.

Ive heard the AP2 tranny on an AP1 with 4.77 is the ultimate... from many different people.
