Default Car meet, dinner and band, Friday 5th Tonight!

Hey all,
I put together a little car meet, dinner, band tonight Friday 5th. Folks coming include people from some of the autoX clubs I race in, NASIOC and S2ki forums and is open to anyone into cars, food (pitchers of beer) and live music.

Place: State Theater in Falls Church, VA right off Rt 7. YOU HAVE TO BE 21+ TO GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Tickets are $11 +$1 ($12) to get in. Basically for the price of a movie and a coke you can hear some excellent live music.

Time: Tonight, Friday the 5th.

Plan:

1) Meet up in the parking lot across the street around 6:00PM
2) State Theater doors open at 7:00 (they have seated area and dance floor with bar and serve food)
3) Acoustic Syndicate starts playing around 9:00

Details:

State Theater's website is here:

http://www.thestatetheater.com/

Acoustic Syndicate's website is:

http://www.acousticsyndicate.com/

I would describe them as jammy newgrass. State Theater describes them as:

"newgrass / Jam / eclectic

With the idea of fusing a variety of acoustic roots music genres into a high energy and original sound, Acoustic Syndicate was born in 1992. Equally comfortable at festivals such as MerleFest or Telluride and at large rock clubs, this exceptionally tight ensemble combines elements of bluegrass, rock, jazz, funk and reggae to produce an explosive mix of original modern music rich in three part harmonies."

Not your cup of tea? It is not what I usually listen too, BUT after hearing them live I became a convert. This is real authentic, uniquely american music that will put a smile on your face.

Plan: talk cars for a while, have dinner, drink beer and listen/dance to music

So come on out, meet some fellow enthusiasts and have dinner, pitchers and live music (instead of standing around in a parking lot like the usual car meet). You have to 21+ to get in.

Yea, i thought it sounded more fun than the usual stand around in a parking lot and kick tires type of deal. I already have a pretty good turnout, but I though at the last minute why not open it up to everyone.

Pete, as mentioned in PM, I'll be there. Who else is coming? Is there a pretty big group?

Jeremy,
There will be a couple of S2ki folks, a host of NASIOC people (mainly people I know since I also own two WRXs), a bunch of people from the GWS/Mercedes and Capitol Driving Clubs ( I race with these clubs) and a few other friends thrown in for good measure. It is a mix (60/40?) of single folks and couples but everyone invited are pretty cool/laidback (and many are pretty talanted autoXand/or track drivers). I got around ~16 confirmed and about 5 may-shows plus some people who might read this post and show. The State theater holds 300 people so there will be plenty of space even with other fans hanging out. I don't think we will be able to get in one table but perhaps we can sort of take over a section of tables. Well, I am out of here (leaving work) and headed home to pick up the little women (no pun intended). See you there.

I didn't see any S2000's or WRX's there, and i was there from 5:50 - 7:10pm, so I just bailed. Ashley and I went to 4 P's nearby for some live music and dinner. Was still a fun evening. Come to think of it, though, there was a shiny black Mercedes SLK in the parking lot. That guy might have been part of the group...

Jeremy,
Sorrry about the confusion. We (and almost everyone else) got killed by traffic and I did not get there till almost 7:00. So we sort of skipped the car meet part and went directly to the dinner, beer band part. I saw your car (I drove a WRX last night), the Legacy GT wagon next to your car and the blue Saab Viggin next to your car were also from the car clubs I race with. I looked around for a while (went to the Italian place to see if I could find any missing people). So hopefully it will go more smoothly next time! Still, we had a great night, Acoustic Syndiacte played till 1:00 and dedicated a song to my wife and me. So, next time.

It's all good. No hard feelings whatsoever. My girlfriend and I still had a really fun time walking around on a beautiful evening and enjoying live tunes and dinner at the 4 P's.
