Calling on all VIRGINIA owners
What all is looked at and how in depth is the Virginia vehicle inspection? I have never had one done and would like not to fail it on the first time. Is it done at the emissions stations and do they have to put it up on a lift or anything? Any info is greatly appreciated. How do the modded, like FI S2k's get around this or do they?

Scroll down about halfway and you can see everything they check!

I have read all that, do they really jack up and take off two wheels and check your brake pads because if someone was to jack up my car and scratch it or my wheels i would be pissed. And if your running lets say an aftermarket programmer and you have deleted some smog items but it does not throw a code will they know what every car has hose wise and things like that or do they rely more on the OBDII to tell them?

I have never gone through a "full" inspection per say as I have always had buddies who owned/worked at shops. They would just, check for a code, check the tires and brake pads and made sure it everything looked good. Like a five minutes once over, most of the time they throw them up on lifts for other cars. To check suspension components.
I would go to a shop where you have built a rapport and ask to sit in on there procedures to make sure nothing gets damaged, and if something does get damaged, make sure to report it BEFORE you leave the shop.
