Words cannot begin to explain the horror of what I learned this evening about what happened to Cale.

I don't know if I can face his family. I can't believe this has happened.

I'm a family friend, I met Cale when he was in high school, his family attended my church. Cale and his friends quickly learned that I also had a Porsche (like his step father)-- and became quite interested when he found I out I was club racing with it, and instructing in HPDE's. Cale came by frequently-- just to "see the car" and "can I help you with it". I invited him to come up to the track-- I think Nelson Ledges was the first time he got to see what an event was about. Even managed to get him a ride. He was hooked. He bought a race car from me, then moved up to the Honda, guess the S2000 must be quite a ride on the track-- he just loved it, and liked to tell me how well he was progressing.

For the past 22 years I've been engaged in this sport. Yes, understanding the risks, yet confident that as long as you stayed within your limits and skills, had the right safety equipment, etc-- things would be ok.

I can't imagine Cale not being amongst us.

It has been incredibly comforting to see that he has so many friends who shared this passion of his-- and the outpouring of sympathy is amazing. I can't thank you all enough for posting the pictures of him.

May God bless his soul, and somehow help his family deal with the overwhelming grief. He was such a happy, person, such an exemplary young man.

This is so messed up. I can't believe this has happened. And I can't believe I haven't seen this until now

Cale you will be very missed my friend I had such a blast drinking beers with you in the parking lot at Fall Colors 05 up at Beaver Falls and getting to know you.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family, getting through this tough time. You will live on.

Godspeed brother

I didn't know Cale. From reading this thread, it sounds like that's my loss.

My condolences go out to his family and friends. We all know the pain of losing someone who is so close.

He looked like an extremely exuberant and wonderful person, I only wish that I was present in this community long enough to have met him.

I do not ever have the pleasure of making Cale's acquaintance, however he is a true inspiration to us all. Reading this post has made me smile, cry and hardened my resolve to be as truely nice a person as I can in whatever way I can and importantly to enjoy life.

Love and best wishes to all, especially his family.

Here is a poem that I find comforting in sad times. Maybe Cale's family and you will, also:

"Now or Never"

Don't wait for longing for the day
When better times might come your way
Discard the fears that may depress
Live now and garner happiness

It's such a waste to dwell on gloom
Though you have problems find the room
For loving when the path is rough
For laughter when the going's tough

To fully live means you must face
Whatever comes with humble grace
And if you mourn turn it to praise
How much to do, How few the days!

Amy C. Ellis

It seems Cale crammed alot of living into his days.
