I only met Cale for a brief moment this passed Saturday at the NASA event. One of his friends was my instructor and was jokingly telling me how this guy (Cale) just beat him by a second. You could tell by Cale's calm reaction that he wasn't a show off, just a plain fast driver. I really wish I had spent more time getting to know him.
I was there when the incident occurred and the scene was very somber although no one really knew anything in the paddock. Then it was sad ending to an otherwise great weekend. I remember leaving the track last night thinking..."boy I hope he makes a quick recovery". No one around there in a million years thought that things would be like this.
So sad.
Rest in Peace.

I think this tragedy will make some of our track guys rethink about tracking at all. I know it crossed my mind, but I think Cale would want us to keep going. I know one of my fondest memories of him will be driving with him. He was one of my s2ki instructors along with George. I'll miss him.
