Blizzard
#61
Hmmm, let's see, I sold my Jag in '96 right after the last blizzard & bought a Jeep so of course we got about 3" of snow over the next 6 years.
So I finally figured the hell with it and sold the Jeep last Sept and bought a really fun car as my DD since it never snows anymore .
So now I have to steal the wife's Lexus to get to work while she keeps screaming "I told you so...
I guess timing is everything. You should see my stock portfolio

It is 70's, blue skys, and a slight breeze, just was I was wishing for, if only I had the S... I miss her.....anyway Good Luck everyone digging out! Catcha later!

Funny thing, this blizzard . . . . My S is my only car. Before the winter, I got a set of Toyo Observe winter tires from one of the forum folks up in Quebec. I put 'em on. This storm was a real test. The car was like a very low slung yellow jeep. No kidding! I was out there making a wine run right in the thick of it and didn't have a problem. Sure, it was bad and I really had to feather the clutch and throttle, but I made it through with no difficulty. Those guys in the 4-wheels couldn't believe their eyes when I went rolling by. Those tires are UNBELIEVABLE. I did get stuck, however, but it was two days after the storm when I went out in the morning to get my car out of the parking lot, which wasn't plowed. I thought that I had packed the snow down enough to over a snow bank by running back and forth over it several times. I didn't. I sunk down so deep the undercarriage was on the snow and there wasn't enough weight on the wheels to get traction. It took two hours to get out of that one! The only downside was that I scratched the right rear bumper and chipped the left rear bumper badly with my damn ice chipper. I got tired and missed a couple of swipes. The black plastic sure looks good surrounded by bright spa yellow That'll cost a few bucks in the spring . . . . . I can't wait for Spring!

Almost made it thru the winter unscathed with the S as the DD. Unfortunately I can state without fear of contradiction that the cost of a new left front fender, installed, is exactly $1,020.55. Next year I'll have to try those Toyos.

I can't believe I put my current house on the market last Saturday at noon. We get 5 inches of snow Saturday and then 2 feet plus Sunday/Monday. Then they don't send the plow in at all and the front end loaders finally show up Thursday 11:00am. Thank God that all we had this weekend was rain as we had 8 contracts to pick from by Sunday afternoon. This is the new house. Come mid April I'll be in Damascus rather then Gaithersburg and my commute will be three times longer but at least it gives me more time in the S on nice days.
