Thanks for everyone's input. The dilemma for me now is whether to spend $2k+ for AP2 wheels, R compounds and an adjustable sway bar OR get new OEM front tires, an alignment and more track days. I'm starting to lean towards the latter, but I'll make a decision by Thursday.

Yup! The third session was after lunch. you guys talked to me. You guys talked to the instructor. Then the instructor and I and made up. That's when learning began and I was no longer a terrible tracker. When a driver thinks they know everything, no learning can take place. I didn't say I was a great driver in the 3rd session, just that I improved markedly. Signed off solo after the 4th session.
Well at least I'm going in knowing the first lesson. I don't know sh!t

I was there too beginning of May this year. My first two sessions out, I drove around Summit Point main circuit in fifth gear (even in turn one).

Actually, Jeff, he was stating that to show he wasn't worried about speed, but more importantly that he was concerned with line and being smooth.

You should try it... may be fourth instead of fifth. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.

Another exercise motorcycle riding classes do is to ride around the course without using brakes. I'm thinking of trying that out if I can next time. Not that I've taken a motorcycle riding class, but I understand it gives you a feel for how much speed you can carry into the corners and to be smooth.
