One of the newest Mid-atlantic members here is a dealer at Jim Coleman Honda in Clarksville, which has a pretty good reputation as far as I know. Might want to give him a ring? Good luck in the quest!

Fairfax Honda wanted $4500 over MSRP too. They also wanted to give me a .00037 Lease Rate (The equivalent of a 9.5% APR
I actually got $500 under MSRP. If I thought that deal was attainable again, I'd recommend the dealership. As it is, I don't know yet because I have done is put down a deposit.
I don't think pre-approved financing would matter for this car. For the dealership, it's not a question of "How serious are you about this car?". It's not even a question of, "Will we be able to sell this car?". It's a question of "How much can we get for this car?".
A high volume dealership, with a good number of salesmen is going to be your best bet. Then it becomes a question of, "Will I be the one to get the commission on this car?", and for most salesmen, MSRP on a $30K+ car is pretty darn good commission.
