Default AutoX in a tropical storm

So I'm signed up for the SCCA level school 2 tomorrow (signed up months ago).

Anyone ever AutoX in really terrible rain before? Any suggestions on how to stay dry? I figure I'll get a poncho, don't know if there's anything else I can do.

We're expected 1-2 inches of rain and 30 MPH winds, so I'm sure all the chairs/canopies will blow away. I hope they don't cancel it, because I think it could be a lot of fun.

Should I run top down?

I did the DC ProSolo a few years back. It poured rain all day. I mean poured. The timing equipment sensors and cones were drifting away in large streams of water. Much of the course had running/standing water 1-2" deep.

Did I mention I was on Hoosiers. No ability to steer or turn, it ended up being a complete waste of a weekend.

I did once, visibility was terrible I could barely see the cones, I had some heavy duty rain poncho, but even my underwear was wet. In fedex field there is no way to hide from the rain. Can you get your money back? If not, just go and take a big umbrella, poncho, boots and a seat cover if you can.

I don't think I can. I already paid for it, might as well give it a shot.

It is a tropical storm, so chances are there will be lightning and they will cancel. If they cancel because of lightning, I think I'll get a raincheck or my money back.

Its the SCCA school so its a lot more expensive than a regular event.. or else I would just cancel and figure the $30 or whatever is worth not having to deal with it.

Honestly I'm surprised they're even still running it. I called the dude and he said "we run in the rain all the time" I wonder if he even knows its not just "the rain", but its actually going to be 1-2 inches of rain and 30 MPH winds.

Umbrella would be worthless in the wind

I'm thinking i'll take a poncho, a few towels to make sure the car stays dry when I get in/out, an extra pair of shoes for when I have to work, and a few pairs of socks.

Its not going to be fun working, but I think driving will be fun.

4 inches of rain and high wind=sucky conditions.

well.. i got wet.

I did do two runs with the top down!

It was a pretty fun event. I got a lot of seat time and I think I learned a ton.

Hopefully I can transfer that knowledge to AutoX on dry pavement.
