Valve cover has nothing to do with the compression. Compression is all in the combustion chamber. I'm pretty sure the compression in an AP2 is the same as an AP1, something like 11.1:1 in the US, and something like 11.7:1 in Japan.


bore = diameter of cylinder
stroke = length of piston travel
compression ratio = amount that air/fuel mixture is compressed in the cylinder

the valve cover just keeps stuff out of the valvetrain and oil from flying all over the place (more or less))
