Anyone know where I can get a "Garbage Plate"
I've been dying ever since I've left western NY 3 years ago for another one of these things. Anyone know where I can get one?
A Garbage Plate is a carefully organized combination of one selection out of (cheeseburger, hamburger, steak, hotdogs, white hots, italian sausage, breakfast sausage, fish, fried ham, Grilled Cheese, or eggs), which are placed on top of a choice of two out of four sides (homefries, french fries, baked beans, or macaroni salad). On top of that are the options of mustard and onions and the signature ingredient: Nick's "hot sauce" - a greasy spiced sauce containing ground meat. The garbage plate also comes with a side of starchy white Italian-style bread and butter. Most patrons typically smother this in ketchup, mustard or a hot sauce, particularly Frank's Red Hot. A1 Steak Sauce is also usually available.
or does anyone know where I can find a slinger?
The Slinger is a Midwestern diner specialty typically consisting of two eggs (any style), hash browns, and a hamburger patty (or any other meat) all covered in chili (with or without beans) and generously topped with cheese and onions. The eggs can be any style. The Slinger is considered to be a St. Louis late-night culinary original. It is described as "a hometown culinary invention that might account for St. Louis' high rate of heart disease: a mishmash of meat, hash-fried potatoes, eggs, and chili, sided with your choice of ham, sausage, bacon, hamburger patties, or an entire flippin' T-bone steak. It's dirt cheap, damn good and a drunk's dream.
THANKS!
