Any plumbers here?
So my tub is now stopped up. There is a tub/drain stopper (little blocker on a chain thingy that is opened or closed by moving a lever up or down), the rod the stopper is attached to broke so the stopper fell down and is stuck in the pipe.
I was thinking of using a magnet on a stick to try and pull it out? Not sure if it is made out of a magnetic metal?
Only other option I can see is a plumber removing the piping under the tub to get the stopper out.

Grab one of these, finger grabbers. You can get them at lowes/home dept. I use them all the time to get dropped bolts/nuts and such in tight places. Flexible and strong.

There is a special tool that will remove the "grill" on the drain in the tub. This can be done from above the tub rather then through the floor beneath. The problem is that you need that special tool. Hard to get unless you are a plumber or you know where to shop (I know neither).
Also... The part is probably brass. Definitely non-ferris... Either way, a magnet won't work.
My advice? Call a plumber. The good news is that it won't cost you too much. Feel free to explain you situation to the person on the phone. They can probably give you a good idea at cost.
Good luck, Pete... Let us know how you make out.

The grabber tools above might work.
The only problem that I can see is that sucker is going to be slippery... And, yes, that is from experience.

I might try a bent coat hanger to see if there is anything I could hook. I think you are right about it being brass so the magnet idea will not work. The little automotive grabber might work.

Poor Pete and Barrie.
Btw, I don't like that you always have your cell phone off. Wanted to talk about the track events.

The stopper was not broken, it just magically unscrewed itself.
Skip, give me a call at my work number.
