amsoil oil
I was doing some reading in the UTH section of this site and am contemplating trying some amsoil syn 10w30. I would like to hear some opinions from the locals who have tried this oil or from anyone in general who wants to comment on which oil they prefer in their car. If some of the track junkies would like to share their opinion that would be greatly appreciated. I just tried to perform a search and it seems that the search is down.
Also where can I find this oil locally?

One of my best decisions ever switching to Amsoil!
Having read this I'd be happy to switch to it, if I could find it locally for a good price (I've just been getting oil from Advance Auto), but I'm pretty happy with my current oil too. (Valvoline Synpower): https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...owtopic=169852
That post is pretty old, but I bet things haven't changed hugely since then. (Or have they?)

I use AMSOIL in my AP2; both engine and tranny. It's good stuff, and I'd recommend it. I just ordered online from their website, easy as pie.
As far as it being "better" than Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Castrol, etc...it depends highly on a lot of factors; mosty preference. I used Mobil 1 in my beater 93 Accord that had 217k miles and use it currently in my Civic Hybrid (110k). No issues at all and it's a great value.

I know that research has been put into the issue (read through the oil journals once upon a time) but I think some people, especially those who do nothing but street drive their S2Ks, put way too much stock in using one oil vs. another. Between the 2 S2Ks that I've had (both AP2s) I've tried Royal Purple, Mobil 1, Redline, and my current oil Valvoline SynPower, and if I'm being perfectly honest, I could not tell a difference from brand to brand.
Having said that, the Amsoil people are pretty reverent about their product, so I guess it couldn't hurt to try. I'm just a skeptic.
