3500 to get all the body paint work done
Here's the deal: Some time ago my car was vandalized and I had to have the doors repainted. In addition, I had my Garage Defend sides and GP sports rear pieces painted. The colors do not match, so I now have 3 different greys on the car. I talk to company A (which did the original work) and they are talking about respraying the car for about 1200 bucks. I talked to company B (who installed the side skirts) and for 3200 they will respray the car (in doing so, remove all the moldings, door jams, etc....company A didn't want to do this), mold the rear pieces to rear bumper, shave the front and rear (no emblems), paint my Amuse hood (includes shaving the nozzles and relocating the sprayers, repair of a corner that was broke off), repainting my Mugen SS wing and painting the feet of the spoilers black.Forr 3800, I can get a compete color change....I've been thinking about a darker grey i.e. Moonrock.

You're a surgeon dude . Money means nothing now! Just add some more aspirin to each patient's med chart and you'll have your $3800 in three days .
Seriously Steve, you know you've been doing things to your S2000 to make it different...unique. Nothing would be more appropriate (if you like all the aerodynamic items you've now invested in) than to repaint the car a darker [Gawd...I can't believe a Silverstone owner actually used the word "GREY" ] color grey. One thing is certain...it'd look freaking fantastic (until, dare I suggest, the next vandalism ).
So to that end, you owe it to yourself to do 2 things:
Good luck!

So to that end, you owe it to yourself to do 2 things:
- Invest in a car cover...and use it once this baby is painted. Doesn't have to be a heavy-duty-keep-the-elements-off cover, just a nice lightweight Honda cover, etc. Bottomline, "Outta sight, outta mind" for most would-be criminals. Plus, they have to go through the additional trouble (and visibility) of removing the cover to do anything to your car. Small investment, that.
- Get the shop (whichever shop ultimately) to refer you to some of their work. Be sure to see the quality that their customers indicate they have in them...and then hold them to giving you that level of quality...x2.
Good luck!

Thanks Dave. Company A wasn't too thrilled about removing the molding, but when I talked to the guy from Company B, he showed me (on my car!) the spray lines that occure when you just tape it off. His words "on this type of car, you need to remove the moldings". Company B is smaller, but he talks a good game and seems willing to put the time in to do the job right.
The other problem is what to do about the hard top? repaint it a matching color i.e. moon rock or paint it black?

Steve! what up donkey, good to see you again. My input is a little harsh but here goes..... Tell company A to screw off! If you paid them to do work then it should be rite! I hate that about any kind of car shops these days they do work and cause it isn't done rite you have to pay for the work to be redone, not kool. I personaly feel company A needs to fix the work they didn't do rite the first time.
Good luck

Mikey,
I agree with you, but if company A does a shitty job than its a bigger headache than I want to deal with. I just don't have the time to keep doing this. It takes the guy 2 days or more to call me back (if he ever does i.e. I usually have to keep calling him. All in all, they are a headache to deal with.
Also, I have the Veilside top cover and would need to repainted, if I change the color.

Steve, whatever color you go with, just be sure it's not some one-off color. If and when another ding happens, it would be too difficult otherwise. Since you'll be up here tomorrow, we can go by my paint shop if you like. I was just asking them about changing colors. Sorry that I forgot to get back to you on that.
