2012 Track Junkie Thread

Glad Y'all had fun yesterday.
Today I did the rear wheel bearings and hubs. The left was really toast.
BTW, i followed a howto on this site by Billman250 to tighten the axle nuts and probably put 350lb ft torque on them. Hopefully this won't ruin them and actually cause them to last longer.
The todo list on the car is down to 14 items before its ready for the track. Its remarkable how much different a race car is vs. a track car in terms of the level of prep required.

Good day out! A little cold but all my sessions were dry. I had Brian (S2000 guy) as my instructor and he is a super nice guy. I also do remember Michelle now, she is also super friendly. I talked with her for a few minutes.
I lost track of the offs today. The ones I recall was a blue Shelby newer mustang in Group 3 app got pretty busted up. I was in the hpde3 classroom and the instructors were pretty pissed bc at least 7 failed to notice the red flag. A Ford Focus went into a tire wall and came out bumperless. A Porsche GT3 lost it in Group 2 but luckily only got covered in dirt. There was a guy in our group that lost it on Turn 1->2 and ended up on the inside tire wall.
The brake ducts worked great! Not a hint of fade. Oh yeah, that's just because I'm SLOW

Had a great time this weekend. Originally I was reluctant to go to the event due to sketchy weather outlook and the fact I didn't really know anybody else going. Saturday was gray and cold but since all my sessions were in dry conditions I had a fun 3 sessions. Today was beautiful out, with the sun shining, which made the mood bouyant this morning. Unfortunately, as mentioned above the day started off badly as a couple guys got together in Turn 1.
I had even better sessions today than yesterday. I consider it successful if I come away learning something newer or better. Last time it was establishing clearer braking zones, today it was getting better at Turn 1, and through the carousel. Since it's one steering input I used to hold my hands on 3 and 9 o clock and kind of lean into the turn, while today my instructor had me to turn the wheel while readjusting my hands...I found myself actually using more of the track that way.
It's amazing how reliable these cars are...I hammered on it (well, relatively) all weekend. Then, when all was done, I put the top down and purred along for a serene country cruise home. I scared myself last lap on my second session today when I tried shifting into 4th going into Turn 9 and I don't know if I just didn't get it into gear or accidentally shifted it into second or something but the tach was flashing like a Christmas tree Best present under the tree was that when I pitted everything was fine and it ran good third session.

Looks like you made a money shift at T9 but luckily you have an AP2 so you don't have to worry about cracked valve disc.
