225s on the rear of an early AP1, really sounds like you will be spinning a lot.

My other option is auto-xing on the OE 16"s with a 225/205 stagger, tires are nitto 450s on those.
are there any suggested mods on the inexpensive side that would make the square 225 RS3s usable? I thought all the fast guys run square setups anyway

Yes, most of those fast guys runs square setups which is 245s or 255s square with thicker FSB and stiffer COs or springs. I think if you stay on AP1 OEM staggered set up you will be fine specialy on your first track day. You will be too busy listening to your instructor and learning entry, exit point and looking for apexes that you will forget what kind of tires you have.
I would not recommend the 225 RS3s square also if you have not practice on it but then again on the first day if you don't pust too hard you might be fine also.

Thanks for the advice.
I think what I'm going to end up doing is running a couple autocrosses on them and see what happens. If they're too spinny I'll buy a pair of the 205/55/16 ones for the fronts, and swap them all over to the OE wheels, and use the 16x7s (Which are crappy cheap wheels anyway) as winters with the all season tires for now and eventually some dedicated winter tires.
New wheels are just not in the budget for now, and track days are not going to happen until I get a rollbar anyway, which is planned for next spring. This car has to stay streetable anyway as per the wife's instruction and love of top-down motoring.
Anything else recommended to make the car less twitchy, like disconnecting the rear sway or getting one of the Megan BSKs (I did the reading and know I have to shave the bolt to clear 16"s)?

The standard way to address this is a big FSB. No reason to think it won't work for you.

My magic 8 ball keeps telling me "the answer is fuzzy. Try again later."
I made two changes too close together and have yet to shake it down. I know using Skip's FSB adjusted as tight as he had it may be a bit more than I need right now.
Matt is correct though, in that a MFBAFSB is a good thing.

Also, getting to work in the snow is the main reason I bought it. But, I've driven it exactly once in any sort of accumulation. (On the OE summer tires so I was too scared to have any fun. )

And I hope to get to Summit Point coming up. I have done a couple track days at BeaveRun (which now has a new name) since I am actually from Pittsburgh, but down in the DC area a fair amount since my GF lives in Arlington.
I might try to sign up for the Track Daze Event in May. Especially since you do not need a bar to run in that event, and I am not sure exactly how soon I will get mine.

Yes it is. I've seen those double diagonal ones. I guess they are ok if you want to keep the secrete compartment intact.
Let us know if you have any track related question. I not very knowledgeable here but a bunch of experts are here regularly.
See you at the track.

Let me know if you need any help in getting your car track ready and I will do my best to help you out. I would also extend my hand to anybody here that needed a hand to prep their car.

Well, after a long, arduous process which involved overcoming fear of ripping front bumper off (really, was kind of scary yanking on it, bending it etc), waiting for parts to come in, etc., I finally finished one of my ducts and the other should be done tomorrow or Saturday. I chose an alternate route for the mounting of the ducts and just wanted to hear some opinions. My thought is that the air pushing up underneath the front of the bumper can flow into the ducts, with minimal drag. Comments and criticism welcomed.

I see what you did there. Very good progress, Kevin. This is one of my to-do list.
That's a pretty unique hose routing. I wonder how is that driver side hose going to react when turning left? And how much air you can actually scoop from under tray?
Try to get some data when you go to track. I might just try that if it works.

Thanks Ron. Well I tried to push the hoses as much out of the way as Rob did. I removed the air pump on the driver's side too so I could have an easier time with the tubing. So hopefully things are good in regards to that. I am not sure about the effectiveness, but I figured worse case I can reroute them through the bumper and plug the holes or cover them with one of the DIY splitters.
