Probably $3500

A good S2000 cage with everything custom is about that much or more. You could certainly get something cheaper that would be nasa or scca compliant, but its better to get exactly what you want.

Have any of you fast guys played around with tire temperature - optimal suspension/alighnment adjustments? I'm reading up about this stuff and it lookes like tire temperature data can serve as a good indication of how good the suspension/alighnment setup is and can guide towards the correct way of adjusting it.

Also, is there any way to actually measure slip angle, or do people just go by feel most of the time?

Oleg, I've been using a tire probe for a couple of years now and I get a nice even temp spread with -3.5 degrees camber in front, - 3 in the rear. I run my temps around 36 to 38 hot (right after a session, but use the tire probe first). I've tried higher and my tires got greasy too fast, and tried lower with what seemed like less grip. Optimal temps depend on the tire type and brand, the ambient temperature, the track temp (hotter on sunny days), the car and your driving style.

I estimate slip angle by observing the difference between where I'm pointed versus where I'm going. Over time I've figured out how much slip I can run without cooking the tires.

Super busy today. Roll bar install almost done. Just have to do the cutting tomorrow and adjust a couple holes in the front or maybe I'll just buy a bigger drill bit just for those two holes. After roll bar install then soft top install is next. Hopefully there will be enough sunshine to cruise around tomorrow but I have to fine a soft top top latch first. If anybody out there have an extra set laying around please hook the brother up. I'll pay premium and I will pick it up for anybody that has it.

Sorry we couldn't hang around and help out, Ron.

Do yourself a favor and go pick this up:

It will save you a ton of time with getting those holes right. I will be using it in the morning to try and get the holes to line up in the hardtop bracket.

Thanks again for the top and the hospitality. You and your wife rock!

Thanks for the reply Rob! I wonder if there is a way to develop a sensor that would accurately measure a slip angle.

I just realized that's true only for the rear wheels. Slip angle for the fronts is relative to where they are pointed so the slip angle can be different for the front and rear tires.
