I would LOVE to see a couple of you guys make the move to TT and then NASA racing in a S2000.

If you told yourself you want to race cars, do it. Life is short.

My thing is I don't want a full time track only car that you must trailer. I want something I can still enjoy on the street yet can dish out some abuse on the track. A lot of the cars you see the guys in the s2k challenge running are just that. Plus I don't want to run slicks or r-comps necessarily. I want to be able to go out and have fun on street tires and it still be relatively competitive. I'm a huge fan of arrive and drive setups. The amount of money you need to invest just to be eligible to run NASA TT I'm sure puts people off.

My desire for something like the s2k challenge also has nothing to do with the cost of a track day either. Sure they get them much cheaper but it's the type of events they get that I'm most jealous of.

What I want probably isn't as safe as some of the current offerings for our region but the way I look at it is without something like the s2k challenge popping up the likelihood of me ever getting to the point of running NASA TT is slim to none. I want to do it but I don't have the time or money that it takes to even do enough events to progress to DE3 which is I believe what's required to run TT correct?

Moving up in DE's isn't about goin fast. It is about being comfortable at speed and being aware of your surroundings. If your not solo'd to pass anywhere on track with a point by then nothing good could come when somebody makes a move to the inside under braking. Racing (and cars in general) costs money, and unfortunately a lot more than most of us want to spend. But if you don't want to, or can't(<-- the boat I am in) spend the time and money necessary to do it safely then HPDE is where you should be. Lapping the track all day is plenty of fun for now. Someday in the future when I can afford a properly set up car I would love to get into W2W racing. Until then, I will focus on learning the techniques needed to succeed at it.

World ends this year anyway! On a more serious note, I'd love to get into tracking my s2k. I've always built boosted straight line cars. My last build was a 600hp pump gas honda fit. I really want to get onto a road course. Any recommendations for starting off in the area? I'm in fredericksburg.

This is my "Intro to Track Days" web page, it's a good place to start.

Definitely agree on this one too. I know a thing or two about life is short. So racing is a priority in my bucket list!

Try to move to a day shift so that we get together at work and meet the other S2000 owners in the building.
