Also, ask our Chump Car guys what they spent on the Volvo. The safety stuff adds up quickly and motor swaps cost either a lot of time or money if you pay someone else to do it.

easily $10k so far between the 4 of us. Oleg's team has probably done it for cheaper given their car doesnt explode at every race.

If you can find a $7k S2000 to start with you MIGHT be able to get it race ready for 15k total. In racing terms, its not all that much money, but its still 15k.
I maintain that one of the biggest expenses with tracking cars is changing your mind and swapping parts and "evolving it from street to HPDE and street, to mainly track, then track only, then racing. Each step wastes money. If I knew what I wanted to do with this car originally, I could have saved thousands of dollars and many many hours of time.
