2012 Track Junkie Thread

Thanks Ron! It actually wasn't that bad. I was able to cut relatively straight, and only took about 20-30 mins per side (had to keep running up and down the stairs to test fit). Unfortunately there are still a lot of exposed wires in the center area and I am not able to put the glove compartment in since I took out the OEM bulkhead. I am going to see if I can do something about that...if I can find a carpet from a salvage partout or something I can maybe carpet over them.
Hey Matt, do you have these pieces that I cut for sale? I remember you were selling a lot of interior bits.

I just put the MIata up on the lift to change the brakes, no need, I still have about the same amount of pad material it seems from the last time I checked. 12 months on the street and one track day didn't seem to have much effect. I am running the super cheap dunlop DZ101 tires which are budget summer tires, they don't seem to wear much either. The car is still a blast to drive and has good grip.
Working on that car is like working on RC car after working on the Vette all Spring, everything is so light.

comp school was fun, lemons racing was good prep. The H2 civic i borrowed to finish the school was an absolute blast. Much easier to drive fast. I won the last mock race we did in it. you can be super agressive in corners and slide the entire car without worrying about catching the rear end.

At this point I am thinking Spec Miata. The fuel was only part of the issue. $250 brake pads every 2 events, tires every 3-4 events, the stuff that broke because that car was never meant to have that amount of power $$$$$. It was fun as hell, but too rich for my blood.
The main reason for the switch now is just how fast the Integra is. 150mph is fun, but a cage is a must. And it needs a wing, and a LSD, and I want better seats, and more boost, and wider wheels... If I am going to go through te process of a cage, it might as well be in a car that can be raced when I get to that point. Miatas are cheap investments and being a spec series means I won't be able to dream about all of the parts that I would want for it.
Parting this car out is going fairly well. Almost all of the expensive stuff is "sold" (spoken for and a price agreed on, but no money has traded hands yet). Should be able to pick up a car in the next few months and get started on the cage. I have a lot of reading up to do on the SM forums.
