Aaron, Oleg's gold RPF1s are up for sale...
We're working on buying a new home...
Nice! Where are you looking?

Glen Burnie. I have to get closer to work! And a garage.

The down side is more delay to building the S2000. I have roll bar money but I am trying to decide whether I go Hard Dog now, or continue saving for a hard top so I can do what Pete did with the half cage. Decisions...

Whatever you do don't do it twice.

Hard dog should hold it's value fairly well. I'd imagine you could still fetch $500 for one after using it a couple years. I wouldn't hesitate to do the rollbar now, then pick up a HT, and then if time/money/life allows you to do the half cage thing go for it. I wouldn't really consider that path doing anything twice.

Any of you guys used H&R 25mm spacers on the track?

I have. You have to tighten the crap out of the spacer. We almost had a wheel fall off, the lugnuts holding the wheel on were tight but the spacer studs were loose.
I would think if you were driving on the track you would want to torque both lugnuts every event before driving to make sure they were tight. Did the spacer come loose after just a short period of hard driving, or had you not checked the spacer for a while?

Awesome, I'd love to have a garage too. I agree the Hard Dog's hold their value pretty well...I would say you can probably get more like $600+. The advantage of Pete's setup (if I heard correctly) is since it's a half cage it can later be expanded to a full cage. I don't know if you have any aspirations to do that though.

Ugh, this business stuff is frustrating sometimes! I get a dealer account with a company and order a bottle of Motul RBF600 for a customer...it says shipping will be added later when the actual cost of shipping is found...I get an invoice today and they charge $12 for shipping and $27 for the whole order! In contrast, I could have bought the same bottle for RETAIL cost from them on Amazon and paid $3.99 shipping for a total of less than $19.

Agreed. The problem is having the foresight to know now what's right for the long haul. This is why I've had the money since 5/26 but haven't pulled the trigger.

Yes, that's why I'd like to do the half cage, too.

On the half cage topic, is RaceLabz still around?

Yup. They just caged Matt's car about a month ago.

The downside to the half-cage is that it's permanently welded in place (if it's not welded it's not a true half-cage) and the Hard Dog can be easily removed (much easier to remove than install) and sold so you can go back to stock or have a cage installed. I highly recommend Hard Dog.

Hi folks, been at a work conference and am really busy. quick update, I passed comp school but a rock took out my radiator because I didnt know to put $2 of mesh in front of my radiator. I have thousands of track miles under my belt and never needed it before. Anyway, I didnt catch the problem in time and blew my head gasket. Hopefully that is all that failed. The car is currently at Kevin Helms shop (AsiaWorks) in Charlotte NC to get a new head gasket and a good going over for other engine issues. I hope to race it at Summit in Aug.

comp school was fun, lemons racing was good prep. The H2 civic i borrowed to finish the school was an absolute blast. Much easier to drive fast. I won the last mock race we did in it. you can be super agressive in corners and slide the entire car without worrying about catching the rear end.

One more thing, those of you contemplating a Mocal oil cooler sandwich plate, do not follow the install instructions regarding how tight to make it. When my rad blew the sandwhich plate started leaking oil, likely because the oil got extremely hot. When I removed the oil fliter the plate was only finger tight. I cranked it down TIGHT and now it should be fine.
