Thanks for the tips. Starter is going to be my first plan of attack tonight.

I'll let you know what I find out.

The needle starts to flop left to right once the oil temp reaches 200F.
I'm sure there is a dirty joke in there somewhere.

Finally got to burp the car today, followed Billman's way and did the firewall also for a good measure. Thanks to Jim and Jason for the warning. I thought the rubber cap is just covering for the bleeder valve but alas it was not! Sprayed coolant all over the engine bay exept my face.

Test drove the car tonite, so far the highest temps I saw was 204 but the SPAL fan kicked-in and down she goes. Temps maintained around 196-200 with AC on and 184-196 with AC off. Tomorrow will be the real test when I drive the car to work to a Friday madness commute.
Update:

Well, while driving back home on hot 90F from VB today I experienced the engine high temp while AC is on again. The engine was holding at around 210-220 on my way to VB. On

Ron, do you have a oil temp gauge?
Yes, I have an oil temp gauge and it was around 210-220 at the time but it broke. The needle starts to flop left to right once the oil temp reaches 200F.
Fix that now, Oil Temp is pretty important.

I hit 274 oil temps at the last FATT and 235 coolant, any higher and I am easing off.
Wow! 274 is pretty high I thought. I'm dropping off the car to PTuning tomorrow then they have to send the gauge to AEM. Might be a whole week turn around.

I will still go auto cross Saturday Sunday with CDC and MB with out the gauge.

I was trying to sign up to NASA for DE2 but they ran out of slot last week. I sent them an email if I can sign up for DE1 then move to DE2 on the day but they have not responded. Anybody know who else to contact besides Chris?

Laura

Autocross is not going to get the oil hot, but a track session will.

I'll be calling VIR to make sure I didn't leave it in the room last time, but I am pretty sure it was in the garage.

On a brighter note, my best lap of the weekend was a 1:29.56! My goal was a sub 1:30 lap, and I ran that on the last lap before the axle broke and I had to quit for the weekend. It's amazing how much time you can pick up while trying to catch a GT-R. He was pulling away, but I was having fun.
Wow Dave, that's great! Just a tune and you'll be eating that GT-R for breakfast SLO4DR my ass...

Anyone doing NASA @ VIR next weekend?

I am doing comp school and if I pass will race in Honda Challenge 1. My goal will be to avoid getting run over by the fast cars.

I am all that is man!

Replaced starter and still no dice. Called a friend and he educated me on the clutch safety switch, which I knew of but didn't know what it looked like or where it lived. Then started comparing my car vs. my friends. ONE 13mm bolt on the end of the clutch safety switch had fallen off on non-starting car. Swapped mine over and it started right up. Evidently that bolt wasn't allowing the switch to make contact.

If you're on route 7 to Sterling tomorrow keep your eyes open for a red rx7 with gold wheels. I'll be the one with the exhaust that rattles your windows while idling at a stoplight.

FYI, I'm picking the car up from tuning at MachV on Friday afternoon and stopping at the Chic-fil-a meet for some grub. Anyone going this week? It's going to be cooler.

I wish I knew about this in advance. I would have crewed for you for comp school. You will do fine in both. Is K going to be there for crew duty like Merideth always was?

Because of the flying start you'll probably qualify ahead of a bunch of the American Iron cars that will eat you alive on the slow rolling (or standing) start. You might want to tell your start plan to the big block guys starting behind you, or at the very least don't make any sudden moves because you'll have company all around you when the flag drops. Have fun, it's going to be a long weekend
