I played back some of my video and tried to get a few lap times, seem to be in the 1:27-1:29 range, maybe a few faster laps. It just shows you how much actual corner speed affects a lap.

I was over braking and too early, hesitant on power delivery on corner exit.

To go faster i need R comps, Seats and Harnness's and some.
so is this your new track car?
No it's my drive to VIR HPDE car and Summit Main car just a few times a year, For a car with really just pads and street tires it's pretty damn good.

I just got new Carbotechs for the Miata.

My car is for sale if anyone is looking for a newer, low mileage s2000. With the KW V3s and rpf1s on RS3s it's just a rollbar away from being track ready! Even has an OEM HT.

Ron, that was George's way of showing that he needs more 'balls' to drive the Corvette faster.

I thought all you need is to hang one of those SS brass balls in the rear bumper like those pick up trucks.

If that was all it took you would see a lot less GTR/Evo/STi's and more Corvettes and Vipers.

Folks, a few of you have asked me to update the oil cooler parts list that I posted. Here is the revised list with only the AN fittings that I actually used.

From racerpartswholesale.com

Qty
Item #
Description
Price
1 1 1 1
MOC-2BM810A Mocal 1/2" BSP x -10 fitting $15.99
MOC-ABKT-235Mocal 235 Matrix oil cooler Bracket $24.95
MOC-SP1FT Mocal Sandwich Plate- 20mm Thread $86.95
SET-A19F22-10Setrab 19 Row oil cooler with Fittings- Series 6 - Setrab 19 $197.90
row oil cooler with -10 fittings

From summitracing.com

EDITED Final listing of AN fittings used

Part#
AER-FBM4414 Fitting, Hose End, AQP/StartLite Hose, Straight, -10 AN Hose to Female -10 AN, Aluminum, Black, Each $13.50 Qty 2
AER-FBM4424 Fitting, Hose End, AQP Hose, 45 Degree, -10 AN Hose to Female -10 AN, Aluminum, Black, Each $25.25 2
AER-FCA1015 Hose, AQP, Braided Stainless Steel, -10 AN, 15 ft. Length, Each $114.79 1
Item

The reason I ordered the AN fittings and hose from Summit is i don't know exactly which fittings (angles) i will end up using so i intentionally ordered extra fittings. Summit has a much better return policy than racerpartswholesale but doesnt sell Mocal or Setrab parts. Also, you MIGHT be able to get away with 10' of hose, but i got 15' to be safe. Summit sells 15', RPW only sells 10' and 20'.

EDIT - installing it the way I did, I used well under 10' of AN hose. Order 10' and you will have plenty.

You can go cheaper if you are ok with the typical blue and red AN fitting colors, but i wanted black.

I spend a ton of time looking at whether or not to get 10 or 12AN fittings. I cannot recall exactly what swayed me to 10AN, but i am really glad I did as they are quite large. 12AN fittings must be huge. The area around the sandwich plate is pretty tight, and the fittings in the sandwichplate are 1/2 inch. 10AN is a tiny bit bigger than 1/2 inch.

I went with a slightly more expensive Setrab vs Mocal oil cooler because i like black. The setrab is black the mocal is silver. Also, all the cool kids use setrab (nascar, grand am, F1) and for what its worth (very little) i read about mocal coolers splitting apart online.

As far as where i am mounting it, i am going to try and mount it in front of the radiator in front of the AC fan. If this doesnt work, i will just mount it in the center. Make sure to put some rubber in the mounting as the vibrations apparently kill oil coolers. I bought one of the factory mounts, but i really don't see how it will be usable. I really just bought it in case i needed it. Rather have the part and not use it than need it and not have it.

The sandwich plate that i bought has the integrated 180 degree thermostat. After buying it i read that its better to get a 200 degree one, which can be special ordered from Mocal (integrated into sandwich plate) or bought as a remote (plumbed in) thermostat. I'm just keeping what i got as this car is only driven on track. The oil should get hot enough.

Hope this helps.

Here's a full session from Lightning. Don't mind the vibration of the rear view. I mounted the GoPro on the trunk via suction cup. I have to find a better solution.

Matt, where did you use the 45 degree -10 fittings?
