I've been reading the "racing radiator" thread on the Racing and Competition forum and it looks like more and more of us are coming to the realization that we are losing motors to oil overheating which leads to spinning main or rod bearings. Skip and I believe our last engine failures were due to spun bearings so I just wanted to emphasize the need for an oil cooler for a heavily tracked S2000. Spun bearings usually occur with either oil starvation or oil failure caused by cooking the oil. The faster you get the more you're running at full throttle and the more heat and stress you place on the engine. I'll be installing an oil cooler when I get my new engine installed and Matt has already put one in.

Matt, could you give me an updated parts list (your original list had extra connectors) and a basic how-to write up?

I saw one of these at the Summit Main event end of April that none of you other guys were at. It was nice...silver, with the red mirrors and grill, and yellow calipers. The guy driving it in HPDE3 couldnt have been older than 35-40, and was towing it with a Denali truck to boot. I think I like the white and black combo better overall though.

Rob - yes I can. I photodocumented the install and can do a writeup that you can use for your website as well as your own purposes. I'll work on it over the weekend.

Also, the car has been driven about 70 miles since the cooler has been installed and so far so good. Hopefully I will have the car at Shenandoah on Monday ( our Lemons team is renting out the track high-roller style) for a shakedown.

I'd like to do a valve adjustment on my car as well. Probably doesn't need it at only 33k miles but piece of mind would be nice.

One of the very first mods for track day 350's (and even more so 370z's) isn't a LARGE oil cooler. I'm surprised this is an early upgrade for the s2k's also....
