Matt, I'd go with the 1.5 inch HC1 rule to give you flexibility to run either class. Another consideration is tires. HC1 uses shaved RA1s as their spec tire so my next set of track tires will be RA1s just to have the option to run HC. Last time I heard there were two S2000s that run in HC1 at Summit point, one of them of course is John Oldt. I'm pretty sure you'll qualify and run with the Stinger group no matter which you choose for points competition, HC1 or PTB/C, so you'll be able to mix it up with them on track either way. I initially went with PTB because my wing and tires aren't HC1 compliant (although reversing my wing's risers should move the wing within the car's shadow). I recommend you talk to John before you make a decision (but he will try to talk you into HC1 )

Also, HC1 or PTB, either one will be in Thunder group(with the FASTEST cars) not the Stinger group(with the slowest cars).
and welcome to W2W racing, Rob and Matt!
There is another yellow S2000 that runs in ptb, I can never remember the guy's name. Nice guy though.
4 S2000s would be decent competition. The thought of running with the AIX cars is a little daunting though....

At some point or the other, W2W racing will almost always have you on-track with cars with a wide speed differential, once you get on there a few times, you'll get used to it!

Ron, before it was really hot, when was the last time Ptuning was working on the cooling system? Sounds like there was air in the system and it worked its way out.
When I had my Ptuning s2k coolant temps on street were 195-205 most of the time. Oil temps were usually around 200 as well iirc.

Ron,
Those temps are not unusual, you need air flow to keep that beast cool.
My Motorcycle does the same thing in stop and go, will get to 220+, but in clean air drops to 180-190 range.
Do you have Redline Water wetter in the system?
What about straight (distilled) water only.

I tried to duplicate what happened the for 3 days while stop and go in traffic and the water temps never go passed 210 anymore. It shows 176 to 200 depending on my speed. My SPAL fan starts at 204 while setting in traffic then stop at around 184 but it starts early when I'm running. I think it's got sensor in the oil temp also, I'm not sure. The highest oil temps I saw was 220 while doing slight pulls here and there.
Do you guys think the water pump is getting week or I have a head gasket issue already? So far no foaming in the oil filler and no coolant in oil deepstick.

A sticking thermostat could also cause your symptoms, but since you recently had the car worked on it could definitely be an air bubble like metros suggested. If it continues to happen I'd follow the shop manual's direction to "burp" the coolant system and if that doesn't fix it replace the thermostat.

I need opinions. While I was driving to the Chik-fil-a meet at Sterling last Friday my water temp went all the way up to 230F in a stop and go traffic, when running at 70MPH the water temp still go up and down from 200F to 230F. Ambient temp was around 80F+, so I turn off my AC and temp went down to 180-190F while cruising. Oil temp reads around 200-230F at the same time.

Thank you for all the great advices. At least I'm not too worried anymore. I will buy one of those big bucket water filler/burper concuction and try burp the system. I'll also buy thermostat and water pump just in case. Car111ktoday miles already.
Driving the car today at Bethesda clinic, heavy traffic at 495 and temps are holding up.

Folks I need a passenger side door and mirror. The door needs to have a working window.
If anyone knows of someone selling one please let me know. I would prefer black but will take any color.
And, don't ask.....
