Anyone want to chime in on this? It's news to me. I was planning to run OEM belts with my race seats for street driving.

I don't really have a problem with race seats and an OEM 3pt lapbelt.

Could anyone recommend a good set of brake pads for my first couple of track weekends?

Will I also need a second set of rotors if I plan to keep running OEM street pads? What's the cheapest place to get them?

Thanks!

You could go CT XP10 front and XP 8 rear. Then use the CT AX6 for street driving. No need to mess around with rotors.

The more I learn, the more I realize that's true. I thought I had a good idea of how much this would cost, but I definitely underestimated it. I just can't tell you how much I want to get out there right now, and get started! I've been waiting to do this since the day I bought my car.

Between seats, brakes, tires, and $$$ for track time, it might still be a little while before I can fit all of this into my budget though. I'm getting a raise in June. Maybe that'll do it.

Tracking a car (especially a pretty nice car like an S2000) costs MORE than you think it will. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking it will not cost enough for your girlfriend/wife/pet to start complaining that you are spending TOO much of OUR money.
THIS

Also, I highly recommend Eric from Brake swap for pads etc.

I have heard that people have run CT track pads and then swapped in the OEM street pads without problem but I have not tried this.
I do this.. but everyone knows I freeway brake and don't drive fast I've also done this for one track day. Jim on the other hand swaps rotors and pads at the same time.

Eric @ brakeswap for good prices.

I keep track of my expenses in Quicken and made the mistake one year of doing an annual report of "Track" expenses. I freaked. I'll never look again, I just don't want to know.

There is a lot of startup costs (getting the safety gear, go fast parts etc). Once that has been done you are looking at maintaining things (tires, pads, rotors, fluids). Also entry fees.

The issue is that it is a TON of fun so when you start doing track events, you will want to do more.
