Since Pete's probably too modest, I shall give you his good news. He got a JOB OFFER from BSR to be a red shirt instructor and teach government guys how to drive. That and occasionally educate us lowly hobbyists/racers.

Congratulations Pete. Now you might break even on brakes and tires!
WOO!! GRATZ!!!!

Anyone want to chime in on this? It's news to me. I was planning to run OEM belts with my race seats for street driving.

Here's what I posted on the harness thread:
I don't follow this at all. A sturdier seat in a crash with or without a roll over would be safer. The stock seat hinge isn't a player because the seat belt locks you into place during the crash so you can't "flex" with the hinged seat.
skapur, you're a lucky bastard. Are you going to run Laguna Seca too?

Yea, I hope to make a little money at the the track instead of just burning it up.

[QUOTE=robrob,Feb 21 2011, 08:45 PM] I did the BSR Red Shirt instructor thing a few years ago and it just wasn't for me. You guys know how much I love being on the track but trying to teach a 60 year old woman from the State Department how to do a high speed j-turn was enough for me to give it up.

Congrats, Pete! It's gotta be nice to rake in some cash from the track doing what you enjoy doing.

Thanks, Rob. That was what I was thinking too.

I guess CKit was trying to say that it would be unsafe because the seat might keep you more upright in a rollover (the OP in that thread didn't have a roll bar). So it was strictly a stock seat vs fixed back seat debate. I don't think he meant to bring the OEM seat belts into it, but who knows
