It may not be visible, but a bar across the dashboard area connecting the left and right sides of the cage is a really good idea. It doesnt have a lot of lateral rigidity with out it if you take a side hit to the frontal side of the car.
What kind of car is this?
Where is your seat back brace? I think that is a rule.

You're right, the bar across the dashboard would be a good idea, but given time constraints, I don't think it'll happen. The car is 1986 nissan Stanza The seat back brace is not mandatory if the seat is nonreclineable/ bucket.

I don't think you could get away with just a stock pads on the rear. Rob and others have proven that our rear pads gets pretty hot, even my rear pads are out before my fronts.
