How did this factor into your $500 limit? Was the car "revalued" by the lemons organizers after the engine blew up?
How much did the new engine/trans end up costing?

New engine cost $125
We have not got a new transmission yet, but we currently do not have 2nd or 3rd gears.
We have one of the slower cars so no one is really worried about our car.

and you can bribe the judges, which we do even though we really don't need to.
When we build our 14:1 compression race engine and add the LSD, then we'll have to dial up the bribes a bit :-).
Just kidding. 13:1 would be more than enough.

There is no rationalizing the evaporation of one's bank account in this manner, so its best not to think of the price or pricelessness of it.
