Getting rid of the Miata, George?
#2055
Anyone looking to buy a Recaro Pole Position with rail? This will fit in any year s2000. It's pretty much new and I've driven the car maybe a dozen times since installing the seat. I finally found out that you really can fit the seat I want in the car If I was smart I'd just keep it for the passenger side but I'm not and I always make poor decisions getting rid of parts my loss, your gain.

I'm looking to get a Recaro Profi XL. From everything I had heard it just won't fit in the car. I finally talked to a guy and actually got pics of one fitted in the s2k so now I've seen proof it can happen. My rear interior will be stripped once the rollbar goes in and if that wasn't happening I'm not sure you could pull it off. The only thing this guy wasn't using that I'll need to figure out is how to retain the factory seat belt receptacle. It will also require a custom rail as there is no way any of the available bolt on rails are going to work. I'm just going to have a fixed bracket made. I'm the only person that drives the car so I have no need for it to be adjustable.
If not that then I might look into some Cobra seats. I've done some reading and for the price they amount you get is far better than the rest of the seats on the market. The shell on almost all of their seats is kevlar vs fiberglass which usually means $$$. Even their $600 and $800 seats use the kevlar shell. They've got one that looks like it might have similar dimensions to the pole position but proper harness hole position for someone of my size. They look nice although I still think the Recaros are the cleanest looking for the s2000
I need to call and find out how long it would take to get one first and I'd like to not sell what I've got until I know I really can get it in my car but thought I'd toss out a feeler for it.
I'd like to get $800 for the seat with rail. I hate to let go of the seat because it's so comfy but it's just not optimal for my size and I want to make sure safety is a priority.

Even though you wouldn't think it.....the s2k has about the same room to the door panel as a 350z. I just put a Recaro Profi XL in my car....you might be able to get a piece of paper b/w it and the door. It fits, though, and that is all that matters.

Took me a lot of calling around but I found someone with the Profi XL in stock so I ordered one. Definitely pricey compared to the Pole Position but should be worth it for my size. Now I definitely need to sell the pole position. The two people I've talked to that made the XL fit did not have all of the interior trim in the car so I'm not sure it would fit right on a complete street car. Not a problem though considering this is a track thread I'll definitely take some pics as I get it done and what kind of quirks I run into for the install. I'm anxious to find out if my Buddy club rail will work if I'll have to go custom.
