what would a new tranny + install cost? that would be a big investment, right? (not that you haven't already invested a lot into the car, skip )

I could do the install myself. I'm guessing around $2k for the tranny. Haven't researched market prices. I'd get it from HTG fo' sure!

That is also the reason why I think the '04+'s might do better at the 1/4 mile. I'm sure there are numbers out there.

I def did better in my 00 than the 04. I mean i might of not been as used to the car when I took it to the track and I took the 00 much more often. One this I couldn't get down in the 04 was the launch. It would either bog or spin and wheel hop. I ran a 14.0 with a 2.3 60ft time in the 04 and 13.7 with a 2.0 60ft in the 00.

My 60ft time in the S sc'd was about 2.3. I thought the car was going to break apart! It sat there and bounced for what seemed like forever. Road course alignment is not what you want for the strip.

Nor do you want your Konis at full stiff.

Exact problem I had. Thats how I broke my axle. Next time I go I'm thinking I'll ride it out from like 2.5k and then floor it.

On the street I can have great launches but its just too hard on the drivetrain at the track.

That's the only one I took. I was trying to get the reflection of the DA but the sun was too bright so this was the best I could do.

I didn't even see the Explorer until I uploaded the pic
