I have never read anything about it ever coming off - as long as you don't leave it on for more than 3 hours.
I've got a good 17 inches of extensions for it which include 2 200 degree moving brackets:
+ another 6 inch extention.Will be testing this thing out in the Audi today and will probably play with it some more tomorrow.
