Alex - Is the white jeep an old cj7?
That is actually a '74 CJ5 with a AMC RAT V8 and 4.57 gears - straight pipes directly off some huge headers (can't remember how big) and that sucker was stupid loud. It made Harley's cry

It wouldn't go above 60 MPH because of the gearing and tranny (4 speed with a granny), but it would either climb the tree or push it over

AMC was the original builder of Jeeps - having a true AMC engine in my Jeep (also pre-Chrysler) was kind of a vintage thing. But you don't find too many Jeeps that are street driveable with V8's - most are rock crawlers. The gears might have worked - hell that whole diff blows the S2000's out of the water , but I got rid of the Jeep a few years (and cars) prior to the S.

I always have trouble explaining the granny gear. It is kind of like a gear for nothing but torque - on the Jeep it was there for when you were stuck in the mud, but most trucks use a granny gear for getting a heavy load that they're towing moving. When you have a granny gear you typically start the car from 2nd when there is no excessive weight or condition present.
