I was talking to one of the guys yesterday at the autocross that is part of the club that hosted the event.

Back in a post to where we were talking about hosting something similar for s2ki... Pungo is 400 to rent for the weekend and ACU-4 is completly free. One of the guys is a major at ACU-4, so he hooks everything up for them. I know a couple of people that have Major dads, but I dont know if they have pull over any bases or how everything works out.

Someone had talked about maybe being able to borrow one of the clubs equipment....

I think we should try to make that a spring/summer s2ki event

My uncle is about to take command of NOB, Oceana, or Guantanamo Bay, so if he gets Oceana or NOB I'll talk to him about maybe being able to do something there........but is there anywhere on those bases for an AutoX

And Dave......if he gets NOB, I don't know you

NOB and Oceana both have places that might be good for autox if it wasn't being used EVERY SINGLE minute. There just aren't any good areas sitting around idle like ACU4 at Little Creek.

And you can forget about "renting" ACU4

There is more red tape there than you can shake a stick at. It's hard enough for the big organizations to get it, much less a few kids with S2000s.

And I don't see why we can't just be happy with what we've got. We have an event almost every Sunday. Why is it so important to have an all s2ki event? We could invite everyone down to an event that's already planned, organized and set up and it would be much more painless than trying to do it ourselves.

Give the pros $20 and they'll take care of everything for us

I have never been anywhere other then the ACU-4 as far as bases, so i wouldnt be much help of finding a spot.. .but i think its a good idea if at all possible.

Maybe the guy who sets it up for tidewater would be willing to help. Apparntly the major is a member of tidewaters club. I think they said his name was mike.

Yeah.. but if we had it as an event.. we could get in more runs, mess around more and use it as an even greater learning expierence.

It would take a LOT of money and a LOT of people to set up. And Pungo would be the only place we'd even have a chance at getting.

There's cones and possibly helmets to consider Dereck - Dave does have a point.

Cones, helmets, timing equipment, people to set up the course, people to work the course, people to break down the course, insurance, getting in line for an open weekend at Pungo, etc etc etc.

If you want as many runs as you can get, go out for a test & tune day. Tony did it last year and you pretty much just roll right back to the end of the line, just like fun runs.
